Teenage life during the 1950's
Teens in the 1950's had changed the generations of today. In the 1950's the average teenage girl was taught to take care of the household and during that era marriage was more important than education. After the war the term teenager became apart of north american culture. Many teenagers became more rebellious and independent. In their spare time they attended events such as concerts, went to bowling alleys, drive-in movie theatre's, roller skating, and also played board games and cards with their friends. As a girl stated in her diary "We skated with all the senior boys. I skated with Billy Maples more than once. Wayne Morrison was there. Claudia got to skate with him. She hasn’t come down from the pink cloud yet". It was all about having friends and fun to teens during the 1950's. Hollywood producers began to focus more on teens therefore producing movies and plays for them. Some of the movies included High School Confidential and The Girl Can't Help It. Teens looked up to popular actresses such as marilyn monroe because of her beauty. Overall teenagers became more independent as they omitted parental control and became there own person.
